We’re headed into Christmas, so I figured we’d do up our last post before the holiday with an open-ended question for the readers. In the recent versions of the BlackBerry OS, the browser has been upgraded to support a few different viewing modes. These include the classic BlackBerry view, Openwave (WAP), Openwave Gateway, Microsoft IE, MS Pocket IE, and Netscape. Each has its ups and its downs. So which do you use? Let us know in the comments.
In case you don’t know where to go to change this option, it’s the options menu within the browser. So open up the browser and hit Menu. Go to Options and then Browser Configuration. Scroll down and you’ll see Emulation Mode. This is where you’ll get the choice.
When I first got my hands on the Bold, I loved the IE emulation. However, after playing with my Curve for a while, I stick with the basic BlackBerry emulation. It’s a lot easier and loads quicker. With the IE emulation I found myself getting stuck loading scripts for too long.
