@jacob the rice is your best option if you think there is true moisture damage or the potential for.

To solve the wacky keys (when moisture is not causing the problem) just do a battery pull.

i’ve had my blackberry curve for almost a year and its been fine, a few problems once and awhile, but yesterday i was in my hottub and it got frosty out while my phone was outside with me, the keys keep typin different letters and the screen goes black once and awhile and sometimes only scrollin on my trackball works, what should i do, i need the quickest option, i dont have time for rice haha, seriously tho, quickest option?

@jen – just leave it in the rice for a couple days – fight the urge to power it on and check.

dropped my phone Blackberry Bold 9700 in the tub…got it out within seconds. It was still working when i pulled it out. Within a minute i had the cover and battery off. I thought i was dry so i put the battery back in. (had no ideas until reading these post bad idea) the red light came on and i tried to turn on although was sure what button to push…any way the flash for the camera is was on then went off. I told my husband he said to put it in a bowl of rice. I also blew it out with air. Is there anything else to do but wait? I am freaking out b/c I put the battery in and didn’t know. Did i ruin it? I haven’t even had it a month :(

Hey, like many others on this forum my phone had fallen into a bowl of water. it wasnt in there long and very quickly took the battery out. ive taken it apart and set it in a bowl of rice but before i put it in rice i treid to put the battery back in and it made a sizzling noise? does that mean i fried it? and should i even waste my time waiting?

I have the Blackberry storm, Last year my friend spilled a whole glass of vodka on the phone an would not turn back on then after a few hours it came back on but the screen was water damaged but I still could make calls an text.. So last nite my friggan phone fell in a puddle now the friggan thing won’t come on at all only that stupid little timer thing! :(

@SJ if the water damage was done last June I doubt it is what is causing your issues. What you are describing sounds like a common glitch and should be easily fixed with a battery pull (while the device is on – replace after 30 sec)

Hey, my phone was water damaged in like June last year and has worked fine since then… then just last night the trackball wouldnt scroll up and then today my buttons stopped working. Do you think there is any chance of saving it if i take it apart and clean the components with an alcohol wipe or such like? Im devestated! x

@Edwin – Aside from pulling the phone apart (so hard with a Storm) there is not much else that can be done.

Well.. I was on the car i was eating a tortilla with like butter i didn’t realized that the damn butter was falling on my BB Storm :( and a litte of it got like on the back of the screen, how can i make it come out? my BB is working fine just that i don’t like seen the butter on the other side xD
