There is a chance that that moisture will dry up but if the seals around the edges are firmly in place it may not happen =(

Unfortunately you may have been a little quick to power the device on. It is so tempting to just see if it is working but this is actually what causes the most problems.

I fear that you may be out of luck if the screen does not turn back on and water damage absolutely voids your warranty =(

Hi.

Today, I dropped my phone in a clean toilet and immediately snatched it out. I estimate it was in for about 2 seconds. I pulled the battery, and tried using a hair dryer on the exposed back. Then I found this thread, and put the phone without battery in a bowl of rice.

After a while, I tried putting in the battery and powering it on, and it came on alright, the trackball was responsive, and as I was cautiously moving the trackball around, it went to the screen that happens when you start to type the name of someone to call. I couldn't exit out of it so I just pulled the battery again and put the phone back in the rice.

A couple of hours later, I tried putting the battery in again, and it powered up just fine, the trackball even more responsive, and the buttons seemed to e working. However, the screen went black, and the keyboard stayed lit up. I could not get the screen back up.

I pulled the battery and the SIM card this time and the BB is back in the rice. I've only had the thing for about 45 days, and the battery shows that it has water damage, so I don't know if I'll be able to exchange it. Is there anything else I can do? Am I totally screwed?

Thanks for any help!

I was putting a screen protector on my phone the other day and put windex on so there would be no bubbles and i wiped it clean and when i put the battery in there was a huge spot on the screen i put it in rice for a day or so and the spot got smaller is there any chance that the spot will go away? will it go away if I take it apart and put it in rice?

Kim, reading through threads about this issue, it sounds like you should just get a new battery.

If that doesn't work, you'll probably have to wipe your device. Follow this advice: http://forums.crackberry.com/f3/how-do-i-recover-dead-blackberry-32322/

But try a new battery first, by all means. Maybe even take it into a store and see if they can test your device with a new battery before you buy a new one.

Mallory, it usually takes about 48 hours to completely dry. Keep it off, and take the battery out. That should make the process go faster.

Don't worry about the red line. My old Curve never got wet, and it was red as red can be. Humidity usually does it.

hey cooper is was wondering if you could help me out,

so on saturday night (it in now thursday), i dropped my phone in the toilet. It was in there for about 5 seconds, and then i disassembled it and towel dried it. Because i was out, i left it to air dry for 4-6 hours. When I got home I turned my phone on and it was working, except that the keypad was confusing letters -- after about 10 minutes or so all the keys were working fine. Justin case though, i put my phone into rice overnight and left it for about 24 hours. Then i turned on my phone and it was working fine, minues a little bit of crackling in the speakers and water in the screen. To be safe I disassembled my phone and put it back into the rice and checked if it was working every 24 hours or so (and it was). Now here is the big problem: yesterday my phone was working perfectly (no water in the sreen, keypad and speakers were good. But my phone died, so when i got home i plugged it into the wall charger and the red light went on for about 10 seconds, and then a white screen came up with that battery symbol with the blue lightning bolt. I figured my battery was just completely drained, but again to be safe i left it in rice for a couple hours. Then, I charged my phone overnight. When i tried it again today, the same thing was happening (lightning bolt).

I've tried plugging my phone into my computer, just to see if any of it is still working. When i plug it in with AND without the battery the red light comes on. But still when i plug it into the wall charger I just get the battery symbol.

I would really appreciate any advice you have. PLEASE dont tellme my phone is dead :(
