What to do if you don’t have BlackBerry Internet Browser

Posted by Joe on October 24, 2008 | 45 comments | Filed under : Quick Tips

Panic struck me last night. After watching the Rays take Game 2 of the World Series, I pulled out my BlackBerry to check a few stats. There it was — or there it wasn’t. The icon for my BlackBerry Browser had disappeared. I poked around for a bit, checking for hidden icons, but with no luck. I tried to launch NextPimp, and I got an error. This is horribly frustrating for anyone. So, instead of whining about it, I went home and figured out how its done. Solution after the jump..

You’ll go to Options, then Advanced Options, then to Host Routing Table. Hit Menu, and then select Register Now. I was told you have to scroll all the way to the bottom, which takes a bit. I’d do that just to be safe. Once you do, though, you’ll get a message in your Inbox saying your BlackBerry has been registered with the Internet, and bam. You’re set.

Warning: This also restored the Facebook application, which may or may not cause the hourglass icon to show up and lag your BlackBerry.

Hi there, ive read all the posts and still found nothing that helps. ive gone into Options/Advanced Options/Host Routing Table/Register Now… Message gets sent, i recieve a reply in my Mail and tells me ive been registered with the Wireless Network. My Internet Access is still unavailable. According to Vodacom BlackBerry Support in SA, I needed to go to Options/Advanced Options/Browser then select “Internet Browser” from the Select Tab… this is such a failure because i dint have that option like I always did.

Help?

I just switched out my Verizon SIM card for a blauworld SIM card as I’m in Germany. I correctly unlocked my phone before doing this. I changed the APN and the password, but my browser is still missing. I also went to the host routing table and there are no entries. I can make phone calls, but my internet won’t connect. Please help me!

@emily If you have nothing in your HRT it indicates that your account is not set up properly on your carriers network or there is a problem with the device not recognizing your SIM card.

I suggest contacting your carrier asap to let them know of the issue. The can provision your device on their network remotely and should be able to sort it out in a matter of minutes. if the problem lies in the SIM card you may need to get a new one.

You made my day!!!!

Don’t register any table. Notice in the picture above on one entry is bold. That entry is specific to your carrier and phone. Select that one and register, not the one at the bottom.

24 Tom August 25, 2010 at 11:45 am

I had updated my software and lost the registrations. I restored my old data but still had to do this step to get my browser back. Worked perfect. Thanks.

Cooper 25 Cooper August 5, 2010 at 8:05 am

@jo When in Host Routing Table – if you press the menu key do you see an option to “Register Now”?

If not then log into your BIS account and resend your service books. Do a battery pull shortly after.

Let me know if that works.
