When was the last time you actually had your keypad tones turned on? Surely it had to be when you had a consumer cell phone. Even then, I couldn’t stand the beeping when composing a text message, and I’m sure those around me didn’t like it either. I’ve been composing in silence for many years now, and I hope you are, too. Yet there’s an inherent trouble with BlackBerry devices: you can’t turn off the keypad sound when you’re making a phone call. So annoying. There’s a way around it, though.
First off, go to Options, Screen/Keyboard, and turn your Key Tone off. This won’t work for most people, but I’ve read a few message board posts from people who claim it does. If not, here’s the workaround.
This isn’t much of a secret, just a quick way to get it done. You’ll have to write yourself a note with the phone number. Once you save the note, you can just click the number and it will give you the option to dial. Pretty easy, eh? It’s not ideal, of course, but it will allow you to dial a number without your keypad making noise.
