@hadi Unless you had some kind of tracking app on it (Like BlackBerry Protect) you will have a hard time locating your lost/stolen BlackBerry

@katie Try opening up your notepad app and typing mypin

It should automatically convert it into your actual PIN number. If you do not have BBM status visible you may be using an older version of BlackBerry Messenger.

@Sam P Your BlackBerry is assigned a PIN by RIM. To find yours just go to any place you can type on your blackberry and type mypin – it will change into your actual PIN #

You can then share that with friends and communicate through BlackBerry Messenger (BBM)

You will need a BlackBerry Data Plan (BIS) in order to use BBM and PIN messaging.

@anon To access the options for any app or location on your BlackBerry you simply press the menu key and scroll until you see the word options – click it and you can change settings and save them.

@chuck I do not know of any mac software specifically but if you google “mac convert video to mp3″ you should get a bunch of software suggestions. I would look for free trials so you can test it out before purchase.

@knelso No they can not do anything to your device with just your PIN. It is up to you to check any apps you want to add to your device but no one can just add something on their own.

I guess then the next question is can somebody that you are messaging with use a pin number to add applications or do whatever(something malicious), I just don’t want to give the pin out if there is a security issue with it being known by others.

@Knelso The PIN is your device identifier or signature if you will. It is used for connecting your device to another for messaging but also for things like application authorization and subscription renewals etc.

Im new to the blackberry world so I apologize if this is a stupid question. I know how to get my pin but when I go to enter it in my address book, it only lets me enter in numberica characters. My pin and my ocntacts pin are alpha-numeric. Don’t know what to do. It has a number lock or something..
