How to 1-800-USE-TEXT in a phone number

If you are new here, you may want to subscribe to my feed or subscribe to us on Twitter!

First and foremost, we have absolutely no idea if that’s a real phone number, but if it is, we take no responsibility for anything that results from calling it, so if you attempt to do so, you are dialing at your own risk.

Yesterday, we got the following frantic (okay, maybe “frantic” is too strong a word, but an expletive was in the subject line of the email, so the question asker was obviously a little flustered) email:

So when you have your blackberry and you have to dial 1-800-MY-COMPANY can you do it? When you get voice mail and it says enter the first three letters of the persons last name can you do it?

We figured there may be a lot of people with this problem, so we figured we’d post the question and answer. That said, the answer is yes! In order to dial a “letter” or “letters” when in phone mode, simply hit “alt” while pressing the letter key at the same time. So, to dial 1-800-USE-TEXT you would go to phone mode and dial 1800(alt)USETEXT(let go of alt).

Never curse a radio ad or website support number again! ;-)
