We’ve previously discussed browser shortcuts for your BlackBerry. Now we’ll take the time to go over the shortcuts you can use from your home screen. These can be a useful navigation technique, allowing you to cut down on trackball usage. To start things off, you’ll have to go into your Phone dialer screen (usually recent calls), hit the Menu button, go to Options, then General Options (as shown below). There you’ll turn your home screen dialing off. Now you can use the home screen shortcuts.

A = Address Book
B = Browser
C = Compose Message
D = Memo Pad
F = Pro Files
G = Google Talk (if you have it installed, obviously)
H = Help
I = AOL Instant Messenger (if you have it installed)
K = Lock
L = Calendar
M = Messages
N = BlackBerry Messener
O = Options
P = Phone
R = Alarm
S = Search
T = Tasks
U = Calculator
W = WAP Browser
X = Windows Live Messenger (if installed)
Y = Yahoo Messenger (if installed)

Also, if you’re on Bold OS 4.6, holding Q (#) will switch between Vibrate and Normal profiles, and holding A (*) will lock the device.

Anyone know how to open up a second mailbox with a shortcut key? I have my SMS messages in a separate mailbox and I can’t figure out the short cut key to open it.

@rina You could always assign the sms inbox to one of your quick keys. I have replaced my camera with sms on my BlackBerry.

Ok – one more – anyone know how to scroll through a single day in calendar? I can jump days but not scroll without my trackball (btw I lost my trackball so I am just trying to get through the day over here)

This article was VERY helpful!

[...] The actual process of unlocking a BlackBerry is rather easy. As explained at BlackBerry FAQ, it mostly involves going into Options, Advanced Options, SIM Card, and then entering some codes. The difficult part, of course, is obtaining these numbers. We’ll start with the easiest, your IMEI. You can find this in Options, Status, under the battery, or by typing *#06# on the home screen (make sure home screen dialing is turned off). [...]
