We love Gmail here at BBGeeks. It’s not only my primary email account, but I have most of my other mail accounts filter through it. Not only is it convenient, but it also offers excellent spam filtering. Problem is, it also becomes a pain. When you read your Gmail on you desktop, it still stays in your BlackBerry as a new message. This can mean a lot of marking messages as read. There’s a quick, well-known solution to this, just in case you didn’t know.
When in the messages menu, scroll all the way to the top and hit Menu, then scroll up, where you’ll seen an option Mark Prior Opened. No, not Mark Prior, the oft-injured former Cubs pitcher. What this does is mark all the previous messages in your inbox as read.

And there you have it. You’ll still get the blinking red light when you get a Gmail message, but now you know how to get rid of new messages in bulk.

I don’t have this menu item on my sprint curve. Anyone else have this problem? Also, I just started using empower html viewer, could that be an issue?
[...] Tip: Mark Prior Opened. This little trick will let you mark all of your unread emails as read. Very nifty if you have BIS and only need your email when you’re away from your computer. [...]
