One thing I love about the BlackBerry is the easy of scrolling through my message archive. Wherever I am, I can find the past 30 or so days worth of email, so if anything comes up I’m prepared. Unfortunately, finding the mail I’ve sent from the device isn’t as clear-cut. Sent messages don’t show up in the main message screen (though that’s a good thing), and a look through the View Folders option reveals nothing but SMS logs and, as always, Inboxes. Your BlackBerry does store sent messages. It just takes a quick search to get there.
To start off you’ll open the Messages application, hit the Menu button, and select Search. That will bring up the screen you see to your right. You can set the search parameters however you like, but for a general search just scroll down and change the Show field from Sent and Received to Sent Only. Make sure that the field below it, Type, shows Email, rather than All.
To end things there and browse through your sent messages, press the Menu button and select Search. However, you might want to revisit this search regularly and not have to go through the same process every time. If this is what you’d like, instead of pressing Search, press Save. Give your search a name and assign a shortcut key to it. I chose “a” because “s” is not available. Once done, hit Menu again and hit Save.
Now any time you want to see your sent messages, just press Alt+a (or Alt plus whatever shortcut key you selected).
