Do you switch between profiles on your BlackBerry? Some users I know switch profiles constantly depending on where they are and where they’ll be. Others I know just flip between Normal profile and Off. People have all different reasons for having multiple profiles that go beyond the preloaded ones. In going through some old posts the other day, I realized we never had a quick tip for this. So here it is today, how to create a new profile on your BlackBerry.
First you’ll go into your profiles application. Instead of selecting one, scroll all the way to the bottom and select Advanced. This will bring you to a list of all of your current profiles. Click the Menu button, and then click New Profile.
There you’ll see a screen like any other profile screen. First, name your profile in the field atop the screen. Then you can configure the settings for all available alerts. To edit an alert, scroll over it and either hit the trackball or the Menu button followed by Edit. This brings you to the alert screen, in which you can change settings for In Holster and Out of Holster rings and vibrations.
It’s really that easy. So have at it, and go nuts with your new profiles. Just remember, when you’re in the company of people outside your immediate circle of friends, the only preloaded ringtone which is acceptable is Ringer_ClassicPhone. Which is a shame, of course, because when someone’s BlackBerry rings everyone checks theirs.
