I'll see your tip and raise you THREE (if you've got a full keyboard device anyway)!

First tip - I use Shortcut Keys to get to all the essential applications - Messages, Address book, caLendar... See my post here:
http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com/blog.php?b=680

Second tip - instead of doing all that hiding, just create a folder called Hidden and move everything into that folder. Then the stuff you never use is still easily accessible.

Final tip - I use the L theme (can't find a Today Plus theme that uses the font I set everywhere the way the Dimension theme does), and I have three folders across the bottom: Documents To Go (which holds other applications too), Games, and Links which holds those myriad of icons every BlackBerryCentric site has. That leaves me five icons for applications that I use all the time but don't have Shortcut Keys.

Try it!
