Checking in on the latest OS 4.5 builds

Posted by Joe on October 22, 2008

Earlier this week T-Mobile announced that they have released OS 4.5 (.0.81) for the BlackBerry Curve 8320. Strange that it’s just this one model, but hey, it’s 4.5. You can find it here. Unfortunately, not everyone has an 8320 on T-Mobile. Let’s take a look and see the latest OS 4.5 builds, official or not, for the other models and carriers.

Before we start throwing out the links, please understand that many of these are not intended for your carrier. If you’d rather be safe, wait for your carrier’s official release. If you’d rather be adventurous, you can check out the links below. Do so, however, at your own risk. There’s a chance you could mess up your ‘Berry if you do this improperly.

You’ll need the latest version of BlackBerry Desktop Software for starters.

4.5.0.81 for the Rogers 8310 can be found here.

CDMA user? So am I. We’ll find OS 4.5.0.77 for our 8330s here.

For the 8300 users out there, you can download OS 4.5.0.81 here.

Those still using the 8800 can find the Vodafone 4.5.0.81 here.

Love your 8820 with GPS and WiFi? Show it some love with the latest OS.

8830 users, you’re pretty much out of luck. You can get OS 4.2.2.365 if you wish, though.

For the Pearl, you can find the newest OS for the 8100, 8110, 8120, and 8130. They’re all .0.81, except the 8130, which is .0.77.

Once you download the file, you can take a look at our step by step guide to upgrading your BlackBerry OS. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks to BlackBerry Forums and Berry Review for the info.

I love the OS 4.5 on my Pearl 8100 (I have Tmo). I did take quite awhile to “settle in”. After a few restarts everything was quick and ready to go. I adore the new “Wireless Upgrade” feature since I have a MAC. Much easier than stealing someone’s PC to upgrade. ;)

For Pearl users- your old Color Pearl app won’t work on OS 4.5 and you should uninstall it BEFORE upgrading for the smoothest upgrade possible. There’s a new app out in beta that does the same thing though after you’ve upgraded.
HTH!
