Many times, when I’m doing BlackBerry theme reviews, I comment that the font isn’t ideal, and that I’d change it if using that particular theme. While this might be second nature to some, it’s not to everyone, so I figured we’d quickly go over the process of changing the font on your BlackBerry messages and menus. As usual, the process starts in Options.
So you’ll go to Options, then Screen/Keyboard. Atop that menu are a number of options relating to the font. Below this is the famous sentence, The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog, to preview how the text will look.
Up top is your font style. There are a few default ones that come with the BlackBerry. If you have changed your theme and want the original text style back, select BBAlpha Sans. There are about a dozen or so more you can choose from, some more spacious than others.
Below that you can change the font size. I recommend changing the Font Family first, since a number of those fonts are bigger than the default one. Finally, you can change the style. This includes bolding and italicizing the font. Not my cup of tea, but I know a few people who prefer bolded text. No idea why.

I am legally blind and with light text against a dark background can (with the help of a magnifer) use the Bold.
I find the default AT&T theme easy to read for the homescreen and menus. However the mail, calendar, phonebook, SMS & MMS, etc “applications” have dark text against a bright background — VERY hard for me to see.
I have played around with the “Reverse Contrast” Advanced Option which achieves the light text against a dark background when in the “applications” but results in the homescreen and menus appearing with dark against bright background which makes that very difficult to see.
Is there a way I can get the “best of both worlds”?
Ideally there would be a way to continue to use the AT&T theme while changing the text appearance within the “applications” without resorting to “Reverse Contrast” mode.
Any suggestions?
