One of the great things about having a multimedia-capable BlackBerry is seeing where all these functions come into play. Some of those things many of us take for granted. For instance, I had a friend email me today asking if they could add a picture to their caller ID. Of course you can! And it’s rather simple. Here’s the quick way to do it.

Go to your address book. Then hit Menu. Scroll down and you’ll see an option for Add Picture. Click it and you’ll be taken to your picture library. Select the image, and you’ll get a chance to crop it. That picture will now show up next to the caller’s name and number when they call you.

You can also do this by clicking on Edit when you’re in the contact menu. Click on the picture icon, and you’ll go through the same process. You can even create a custom contact ringtone with this process.

You can do this with more than just camera ‘berries. Just not as easy to get the pics onboard. Me with my 8830 I just email pics to myself then save them to my microsd and assign in address book.

You can also do this through facebook if you use yahoo for your contacts. It will ask if you want to update the contacts list with the facebook pictures.
