Do you know how to use caps lock on your BlackBerry? If so, feel free to skip this post. In going through our quick tips archives, I’ve noticed that sometimes we skip over the basics. BlackBerry vets know these like the backs of their hands, but others can benefit from these basic tips. As my Verizon rep once told me: “The most frequent BlackBerry question I get is how to move icons.” People are asking, and we’re here to answer. Today’s tip is truly quick: using caps lock on your BlackBerry.
When I got my first BlackBerry and I needed to type a word or phrase in caps I took to holding down the Shift key. This ties up one thumb, leaving the other to cover the entire keyboard. This is obviously a pain. Ditto typing in a phone number or any other numerical string. I either held down Alt or hit Alt before every number. Thankfully, there’s a quick remedy.
To use caps lock, press Alt and Right Shift. Now you can type a string of all capped letters — not recommended for your entire email, of course.
To use num lock, press Alt and Left Shift. This will make entering serial numbers just a bit more efficient.
