Yes, it’s that time of year again. We all make resolutions that supposedly start on January 1 and will carry us through the year. Of course, they rarely last that long. As Mark Twain said: “New Year’s Day: Now is the accepted time to make your regular annual good resolutions. Next week you can begin paving hell with them as usual.” That doesn’t mean we won’t try, though. So, in addition to your resolution to be less addicted to your BlackBerry (which won’t even take a week to break), let’s go with one of the old staples of New Year’s Resolutions: your health. We’ve talked before about Gym Technik, a Website which helps you track your fitness. Let’s see how you can use it to keep up with your fitness goals.
The toughest part of keeping up with goals is tracking them. If you don’t, you run the risk of losing motivation. If you could only see how much progress you’ve made, maybe you’d be inclined to continue. This is where Gym Technik comes in. It’s a great tool to track your results. After you perform a set of an exercise, you can use the rest time to enter it into the Website. Save it up, and you can chart your progress over time.
Also on the motivation front is music. I don’t know about you, but I can’t work out without some tunes blaring through my headphones. Since you’re already bringing your BlackBerry to the gym to use with Gym Technik, why not use the multimedia features on your device to make better use of it? The guys at Gym Technik have detailed how to do this, including using your convenience key to make it easier to switch between the Media Player and your browser (where Gym Technik will be loaded).
Chances are, you’ll break your resolution eventually. However, you can put yourself in a better position for success by tracking your results and keeping yourself motivated. Why not give it a shot? If you do, let us know if your BlackBerry has played a part in your success.

I’ve tried Gym Technik sense reading this article. Not at all impressed. You have to create a workout for each day and it maxes out at 20 individual exercises. I’d love to just be able to enter all the exercises I do on one page and select from there. Problem with this site is that once you start a “workout” you can’t change to another one that day. So you can only track 20 items per day, even if you’re doing more.
