Yes Telecom BlackBerry Service

Editorial Rating

Overview:

Yes Telecom, founded in 2001, merged with Vodafone in 2006 to create a strictly-business service provider that provides a myriad of BlackBerry and data options for your phone.

Pros:
Yes Telecom provides BlackBerry Internet Service, BlackBerry Exchange Hosting, and other data options for people on the go. With a number of tariffs, you can choose to use however much data you want, up to unlimited use. You can choose from bolt-on plans or simply pay for the BlackBerry service itself.

Cons: The plans are compatible with Vodafone Data, Business and Volume plans only. The data does not roll over and there is a fair usage policy of 3 GB. If you go over, you may be liable for data restrictions and extra charges.

Detailed Provider Information:

Voice Plan Options: Each minute is 8.5p for peak calls to other phones on the network. Off-peak calls are 4.2p per minute. If you get push email opposed to a BlackBerry solution, you will have to have a compatible Vodafone plan. See our Vodafone page for details. If you call other networks, you will be charged 28.9-34p per minute on peak hours, and 20.4-34.0p per minute on off-peak hours.

Data Options: Yes Telecom has BlackBerry Enterprise solutions at £36 monthly per line. You get unlimited domestic email usage and data is given to you in 10 KB increments. You can also choose to get BIS at £15.75 per month – this gives you 6 MB of email per month. BlackBerry Roaming, for business users who need constant access to their email, gives you unlimited roaming and Internet for £50 a month. If you choose push email, the data limit ranges from 6 MB to unlimited, and costs £5.00 to £41.00 per month. Push email is only available with Vodafone plans.

Messaging Options: You can use picture, video and text messaging with Yes Telecom.

Customer Service: Depending on your plan with Yes Telecom, they will refer you to one of their five customer service departments. You can then call the number given to you. You can also call or email them directly, although they don’t respond to emails right away.

Contract: Vodafone has contracts for their voice tariffs, one of which you need to access the BlackBerry service.

Messaging: Picture messaging is 30.6p per minute; video calls are 29.7p per minute.

International Calling and Messaging: Vodafone and Yes Telecom have teamed up to bring its customers an international solution, found here: http://www.yestelco.com/Index.aspx?pageid=473 Rates vary per country and you must choose Vodafone World or Passport to get international service.

Roaming Charges: You can find a comprehensive list of roaming charges here.

Activation Fee: You may be asked to pay a deposit and a credit check will be performed.

Additional Features: You can choose to access Yes Telecom’s business services, including mobile broadband, mobile applications, Nokia Intellisync, and Business Email.

Insurance: Insurance through Vodafone can be found here.

Phones: You will require a phone to access Yes Telecom’s BlackBerry services. They offer all of the devices their sister company, Vodafone offers, along with their plans which you will be accessing to get BlackBerry service.
