Vodafone BlackBerry Service

Editorial Rating

Overview:

Founded in 1985, Vodafone is one of the UK’s top mobile companies. They pride themselves on providing top customer service and innovative telecommunication advances.

Pros:
Prices for BlackBerry Internet Services are relatively good, and you can choose whether you want to sign a small business contract or get service with an anytime plan under £34.03 or over £34.04. They also have several versatile BlackBerry models to choose from. With small business plans, you can choose to add up to twenty phones (depending on the plan).

Cons: All small business plans require an 18-month contract. BIS service can only be accessed as an add-on to another plan. There is an additional fee of £15 a month for each additional phone. As well, you only get 6 MB of data before you are charged for overuse. The charge for that is £2 per MB.

Detailed Provider Information:

Voice Plan Options: There are ten small business plans. You can choose to share minutes among several phones, or keep them all on a single line. Monthly minutes range from 125 to 3750, and prices range from £22 a month for the first phone to £195 a month. With the plans above 2000 minutes, you can choose to add up to 20 phones, which is definitely a good option for businesses that need to stay in communication with each other. Plans below 1500 can add up to 15 phones, and plans below 1000 can add up to 10 phones. Any plan below 500 minutes has the option of adding up to 5 phones. The lowest plans have a cap of 2 additional phones. Contracts over 24 months get unlimited calling to UK landlines.

Data Options: Depending on your contract, you can choose to add BlackBerry service for £5.00 a month to £12.77. This enables you to use your phone to access many of the popular email providers at anytime, anywhere. However, you only get 6 MB of data.

Messaging Options: You can choose to add voicemail or text, picture or video messages to your account with Vodaphone. You can send up to 755 character text messages, which is equivalent to 5 regular texts. You can choose to download their Text Centre for free.

Customer Service: Vodaphone has an online knowledgebase and FAQs to help you out with any questions you have. If you still can’t figure it out, you can contact them by telephone or email. As well, you can choose to sign up for an online account to manage things at a touch of the mouse.

Contract: Contracts are 12 to 24 months, depending on the plan and price of the handset.

Messaging: Text messaging outside of a bundled plan costs 10.2p. You can send messages up to 160 characters. You won’t be charged for incoming messages, except for reversed charge messages and when roaming.

International Calling and Messaging: Vodafone’s international site is here. For many countries, you don’t pay more than 30p a minute.

Roaming Charges: There are international roaming charges for calling overseas; as well, you will be charged for international text messages.

Activation Fee: You may be asked to pay a deposit for use of the services. Additional business lines for many price plans cost £15 extra a month.

Additional Features: You can choose to download music, ringtones, applications and more. Downloading charges may apply. Business plans include free calls to an area code of your choice, free calls to other businesses on a Vodafone plan, free call notification, and more.

Insurance: You can choose to pay monthly for loss or theft insurance up to £600 through Vodafone. See terms and conditions for details.

Phones: Vodaphone offers the BlackBerry Curve 3G in red. They also have the most choice in the UK market for BlackBerry devices, with the Torch and the Storm 2. You can choose from many stylish models and keep in vogue.

I have taken two services on my name. The documents were given in my name. But the service was on others name.
I took service of the International Calls by paying Rs 69/ for per minute charges Rs0.60 per minute.
for 460 minutes for one month.Surprising to note that sms was received confirming of activation.
When I complained for the same I was told by one lady that my account will be credited or by refund. When on the other day IO followed for the same complaint I was told that it can not be refunded . Further to that I was told that I already used the 460 minutes for international calls.!!! tHEN i READ OUT THE TOTAL CALLS DURATIONS FROM MY MOBILE . i FIND TOTAL CALLS INCLUDING us CALLS WAS 3 HOUR 40 MINUTES, Whenh contacted to Regional office of Vodafone in Ahmedabad Gujarat Ms Jigna told me that she would look in to the matter. But after 1 month and half she told me that nothing can be worked out. This is just cheating to public only. There is no response from them so far.
Even then the charges was for Rs 6.40 per minute. My balance was reduced to Rs 360 !!!!
I also charges for Rs 50.00 for more( Full ) talk time . But how and when cleared the balance or used I could not see.

I work for Vodafone and your information is out of date, as we don't charge £2.00 a mb after the usage allowance.

how do I correctly map the 'mobile' field in MS Outlook to the 'mobile' field on my BB Pearl (NOT the 'work' field!)

Bb on voda uk is a fair and competitive deal. For £35 per month u can secure yourself a free bb, 600 mins atan, unlimited txts, emails and internet usage. The usual fair usage policy applies but the liklihood of using up your allowance is slim to say the least. 500mb pm limit on data usage is more than enough for your bb. One thing that does annoy me slightly is that voda limit the software u can get direclty from ther sources to force you to purchase EG. supposedly 'live' tv however its not great watching yesterdays news! Perhaps it is some clever advertising ploy as you will be using vodafone live however tv is certainly not live! Streaming is also a problem on some sites and java / flash is not supported on the bold handset but I understand that this is not unique to voda. All round a good service but keep your eyes open for better!
