Nextel BlackBerry Service

Editorial Rating

Overview:

Sprint bought Nextel in 2005, combining its native CDMA network with Nextel's iDEN. Since its inception Nextel has been known for its push-to-talk walkie-talkie service.

Pros:Nextel uses the same pricing tiers as Sprint, which include the Simply Everything plan, which provides unlimited voice, messaging, data, and other services for 99 dollars per month.

Cons:There are not many BlackBerry models available for service on Nextel's iDEN network.

The blackberry 8350i is the WORST phone on this planet. It's a shame that they had to merge with Sprint because I really believe that made it worse.I left Sprint 7yrs ago to go to Nextel & here we are back to the drawing board

Not good my phone is gonna have a hammer issue. Sprint is not putting any money into nextel and hoping people just switch to sprint. This is a truth

i got the same problems you all are having. Nextel has told me that they are haveing tiwer problems. I have 3 phones on my account that all have the same issuse. My blackberry has trouble with texting sending and reseving. And the d/c freezes up all the time and has "in use" on the screen when it's not. I spend a lot of time on my phone and dont like it. I wish they would get it streat or i'll have to drop my account and get something that really workes

i have had the nextel blackberry for about a 8 months and have had nothing but problems. I spend more time on the phone with nextel then anybody else. between texting issues dropped calls d/c problems.. freezing problems slow internet speed and overall frustration this phone is JUNK. I will be going on phone number 4 soon.. they all end up just not having service or taking 24 hours to get a text>> its not worth it

My trouble seems to be related to nextel's ability to maintain the blackberry text connection. 3 times in the last 60 days my text is unusable and tech services have told me twice before that it was a regional problem, unrelated to my actual phone. Now it seems to me that if nextel wants to keep customers they would solve the problem. No one else has text problems when mine is down and that includes other customers on nextel (not using blackbery). Any insight is appreciated. I'm in Fl and wonder is it just a FL thing?

I've been a loyal Nextel user for over 10 yrs. I really like the 8350i. I wish that it was able to stream video and be used for tethering a laptop. The 8350i is very easy to use and whether or not you are a power user or a novice, it does it all.

Nice phone with all the services I need and use especially email access. The only thing I don't like is the NOW network is slow and I lose calls and have bad reception in too many places. I switched from a CDMA renegade V950 and made a bad choice as I should have bought the Blackberry that uses CDMA and just dropped the direct connect as D/C is not worth the low speed and lost calls.

I have been having issues with the blackberry 8350i from nextel and going to be getting my 4th blackberry in a month and half because they cannot figure out why my phone keeps losing service to everything from text, direct connet and phone service period!!!!!! I am soooo fed up with them that i am seriously thinking of dropping the direct connect to get a phone that excautly works for a change!!!!!:(
