Happy Storm Day! The only bad part about this is the lack of stuff we’ll have to talk about on the Geekcast. Oh well. Better to have the device than to not have it — and be complaining about it. So, instead of device rumors, we talk about a few real BlackBerry issues.

Highlights include:
Of course, the Storm is the first point of interest. Did you get yours? Was your store sold out? While I haven’t seen any first-hand reports yet, a shortage was heavily suggested yesterday. The good news is that stores might have more tomorrow.
Then there’s President-elect Barack Obama and his impending separation from his BlackBerry. While I asked what would make you give up your BlackBerry earlier in the week, I got to wondering if I really need it at all. Answer: if only for email. That’s vital at this point, as I imagine it is for others. I do talk about my frivolous use of the browser, though.
Finally, we could have the Curve 8900 in time for Christmas. In the UK. And if there are no delays. So, in other words, chances are slim to none.

I’m still really surprised that the Storm isn’t coming out for Rogers. I mean when does a new device launch for Bell/Telus? They’re typically 1-2 years behind for each device. I’m sure it has to do with RIM not wanting to go head to head with the IPhone, but still… I changed to Rogers because THEY were the ones with the better phones!
Oh well… guess I’ll have to wait some more.
From what’s been going around, Ryan, you might see the Storm on Rogers soon enough. The GSM-only version seems nearly ready.
