The BBGeekcast rolls on with news on the just-released Tour — it opened well — as well as some upcoming models. The Storm 2 is going to be a hot topic in the coming weeks and months, as is the Onyx. And don’t forget the soon-to-be-released 8520 Curve.

Verizon’s Tour sales, as high as 300,000 units in 24 hours, resemble those of the original iPhone in 2007. Yet so far as I can tell there were no massive lines for the device on opening day. It’s interesting how different Apple and RIM are, even though they’re in similar businesses.
Next up is the Storm 2. I keep hearing people speculate that it could be coming soon, but I haven’t seen anything concrete to back that up. Could the Storm 9520 for AT&T and Rogers hit shelves before the 9550 for Verizon? I wouldn’t think so, but it’s a possibility.

Hey Joe. Nice short geekcast this week!
You say the Tour is the successor to the Curve. I would disagree. From a CDMA perspective, the 8830 came out long before the Curve 8330. And the Tour is available both with and without a camera. So I would argue the Tour is the successor more to the 8830 than the 8330 and I suspect we will see 8830 disappear sooner than 8330. If course, with the two versions you could easily argue it is the successor to BOTH, in which case we could see BOTH disappear soon.
