There’s plenty going on in the BlackBerry world right now, including the initial figures for Storm sales. That caused a bit of a ruckus earlier this week, though I think some of the iPhone comparisons are overblown. Plus, we have plenty to talk about with the imminent consumer release of the Curve 8900 on T-Mobile.

Highlights include:
There was a little worry when it came out that Verizon only sold 500,000 Storms in the fourth quarter, but the nation’s No. 1 carrier came out and said it has sold over a million units through January. Not bad, but not iPhone-esque. I talk about why that’s a poor comparison.
Jim Balsillie talked about a “new reality” of mass market cell phones. I’m not buying it, really. Yes, the public wants instant gratification, but a lot of that is fickle demand. Long-term users, for the most part, want the device to be right the first time. We’ll see how this phenomenon develops.
And finally, there’s a generally positive reaction to the BlackBerry Curve 8900, which hits T-Mobile this coming week.
