I swear, there’s a conspiracy to fix everything I regularly complain about, so I can no longer complain about it. Verizon has gone and uncrippled GPS in certain BlackBerry models. This is an under-the-radar move, as in Verizon hasn’t said anything about it. There are a few restrictions, as can be expected. We’ve got this, and tons more BB News, in the Geekcast.

Highlights include:
If you’ve got a Verizon Berry with OS 4.5, you can now use BlackBerry Maps with full GPS function. Neat-o. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear to work with Google Maps. Perhaps in the future. I’ll have to test it out on other location-based applications.
Rogers is nearing the launch of the 8900 Curve. We thought they had soft-launched it last Friday, but that isn’t the case. Rogers has certified it, though, and was rumored to have received shipments this week. So we could see this on shelves by early next week.
Looks like delays are going to push the Bell Storm past the holidays. Given the state of this economy, that’s no good. They’re going to miss out on a ton of sales. Meanwhile, Telus’s Storm is up on their website. It’s not quite available yet, but Best Buy still has it at December 8, which is Monday. Something to keep an eye on over the weekend.
Oh, and there’s a critical security flaw in an old version of Desktop Manager. Check out BlackBerry News to find out if you’re affected and how to fix it.
