This was not the best week for computers at BBGeeks Studios. On Wednesday evening my laptop took a foot and a half tumble into oblivion. On Thursday morning Coopers computer crashed and erased mostly everything. So we’re dealing with plenty of issues here. That doesn’t mean there’s not a Geekcast, though! It’s short, and we only cover two topics, but the show must go on.

Highlights include:

The Pearl 2 will be the talk of the BlackBerry world soon enough. Check that — it already is. With a slew of devices recently released, there are some focusing on reviewing those models, and we salute those. Others, though, are wondering about the next device. We’ve seen videos of the Pearl 2 circulating, so it can’t be too far off. The latest walkthrough video paints it in a good light. Looks like it’s the old Pearl with new, updated features. I think RIM’s going to nail this one as well as it can.

And then there’s a bit about a patent infringement suit. These come up all the time, and RIM, as a large technology company, is often the focus. I don’t think much will come of it, other than perhaps RIM paying the litigants a few dollars. Now, if only we could reform patent law to properly incentivize innovators, rather than trolls.
