It’s summer time, and the livin’s easy. This means that we’re a bit short on hard news for the BlackBerry. We do sift through a number of rumors, though, including the renaming of the Kickstart to the Pearl. We also get a few new pics of the Kickstart, this time with a red interior. Expect this to come in a number of colors, just like the original Pearls.

We kick it off by talking about the BlackBerry name change. It seems odd that all the old leaks talked about the Kickstart, yet new info says it will be called the Pearl 8220. It makes me think that maybe the Thunder will not in fact be the Thunder. In any case, despite some people’s dislike of the form factor, the $50 entry level price should be enough to attract new users.
Are AT&T and RIM not on the best terms? At one point, I would have believed that. But given recent developments, including the fact that no North American carrier has yet to offer the Bold, I’m less inclined at this point. It’s still possible, especially given the solid iPhone sales numbers. But, most likely, AT&T had some legit issues with the Bold, which caused the delay until September 1.
T-Mobile revealed the rest of their 2008 roadmap. We should be seeing the Pearl 8220, three new colors of the Pearl, and the Javelin through them before the year is out. Unless, of course, there are delays. And we’re coming to learn that there are always delays.
