We saw a bunch of news regarding the line of new BlackBerry models this week. We got pricing and two possible release dates for the Bold on AT&T, we saw some pricing info for the Pearl 8220 on Rogers, and we finally cleared up the Thunder/Storm naming discrepancy. Or so we think.

It looks like the Bold will cost the same on AT&T as it does on Rogers. The $299 price tag won’t entice any would-be iPhone users to reconsider, but it’s at least do-able. Did the Bold really cost that much more to manufacture, or are AT&T and Rogers just trying to keep the consumers on the iPhone, and businesses on the BlackBerry?

We also saw the Pearl 8220 checking in at Rogers for $149.99. So much for that $50 entry-level price tag. There’s hope for that price on T-Mobile, but as I mention in the podcast, there’s not much precedent on that front. Then again, T-Mobile doesn’t have the vast market share in America that Rogers enjoys in Canada.

It’s the Thunder. No, it’s the Storm. Thunder! Storm! It appears it could be both. The Verizon packaging suggests the name Storm, but rumors regarding Rogers and Vodafone say it’s the Thunder for those carriers. It would make more sense to me to have the same name across carriers. But what do I know? I just talk about these things.
