Will there be any bigger story than the Storm 2 from now until November? Probably not. We learned a bit more about the device this week, including the all-important touch screen. Hint: there are no clickies this time. And then there’s a whole bit about software, which RIM has thankfully been improving of late.

Highlights include:
Looks like the Storm 2′s screen will be a unique one, and won’t be of the click style known by users of the original model. This one will be a bit smoother. As Cooper said to me yesterday, it’s what the original model should have been.
Then there’s some news about BIS. We’re talking improvements in the IM clients for BIS 2.5, and then two-way Gmail contact sync for BIS 2.8. Too bad we don’t yet have two-way email sync for Gmail. That’ll be the day.
One of our biggest complaints about the BlackBerry, the browser, might get fixed sometime soon. RIM acquired a Webkit developer, and will start to work on a new browser. We’ll likely see Skyfire first, but RIM could put up some competition with its own Webkit-based browser.
