After a week of not generating many headlines, RIM is back in a big way. Highlights include:
The headlines could continue coming for the BlackBerry makers. While the iPhone still sells well, RIM has a couple new models which will compete. First is the BlackBerry Onyx, which figures to be another 3G GSM device, complete with optical trackpad. And then there’s the much-anticipated Storm 2, captured twice this week on video, which will be RIM’s main weapon this holiday season. The hype from both of those could keep RIM in the pubic mind for months to come.
While we knew Flash was coming to the BlackBerry sometime next year — Adobe said so months ago, we learned this week that Microsoft Silverlight could be, too. That would help the transformation of the BlackBerry into a real multimedia powerhouse. It would also mean stark improvements to the browser, something we always find a way to complain about.
