Highlights include:
Nextel launched the first camera-less BlackBerry since the 88xx series. It’s the Curve 8350i, which they launched in December. Now it has more appeal to lawyers and those in the financial services industry — industries which can’t tote around camera phones. Good for them. It’s the exact same device, with the exact same price.
The other major point was RIM’s foray into cost-cutting. They’ve set the market price for their devices, and its’ going to be tough to go above that. I think the Storm kind of solidified $199.99 as the target price. The only way to increase profits, then, is to cut costs. RIM is looking at different parts supplies who can give them a better deal. The only issue at that point is of quality. Is RIM going to get what they pay for?
