BlackBerry sells 10 percent of U.S. cell phones

Posted by Joe on August 13, 2008

Just a quick note, via David George-Cosh of The Vancouver Sun. According to Strategy Analytics, RIM sold 10.3 percent of all cell phones in the U.S. during the second quarter. This amounts to double their market share in the second quarter of 2007. I guess the original iPhone didn’t quite do the job of killing the BlackBerry (sorry, couldn’t resist). The article goes on to say that RIM’s split between consumer and enterprise phones is a third to two thirds. I’ve heard it quoted as forty-sixty before. In any event, it appears that RIM isn’t slowing down. Adding the Kickstart, Thunder, and even the Bold in the coming months is only going to improve them.
