At the RIM booth you’ll find not only RIM staff talking about the BlackBerries, but you’ll also find various companies who are official partners with RIM and develop software applications for the BlackBerry.

From games like Guitar Hero III for BlackBerry to enterprise related business software, it is a plethora of the new and upcoming in the world of BlackBerry apps. One such partner on hand today was MobiTV.

This app is pretty cool. It streams TV channels that MobiTV has deals with right to your BlackBerry. The service is currently available on the BlackBerry Pearl, but you can expect it to roll out very soon on the other BlackBerry devices. Below we did our best to get you a video preview in a very loud conference hall with bad video lighting:

Some of the channels available include (channels vary based on your cellular provider): Discovery Channel, Flipping Out, Access Hollywood, NBC Sports, Fox Sports, ABC News, Animal Planet, CNBC, Fox News, Fashion TV, NFL Network, Oxygen, WWE Network and even some kid friendly channels like Disney and Treehouse (you Canadians know that last one – and yes, service is also available in Canada, though not on the BlackBerry yet – they say it should be coming soon) to keep the kids busy when you need. The price of MobiTV is an extremely affordable 9.99 per month.

I said in the video that BBGeeks.com would definitely be subscribing, but Joe then mentioned that he has an interview with Slingbox coming out in the next few days that was done live here at CTIA and not to make my decision until then. But, from what I saw, MobiTV will be hard to beat.

We headed to the show floor again today and decided to pick up some more video previews for you. First up is the T-Mobile Pearl 8120 – announced at CTIA to be launching on April 15th. Below is a video preview of the ripe new Pearl followed by some digital stills of the new device.

And we’re back, with a few BlackBerry-related updates. First up is the future of mobile VoIP — Voice over Internet Protocol. Basically, it’s Skype from your mobile phone. Sprint made a presentation talking about how mobile VoIP has developed, and the possibility of a commercial release in 2009. You can check out some past BBGeeks material on VoIP. Basically, there’s potential to converge voice and data onto one radio frequency, which should drive down costs. There will be more of this in the future. There’s also an update on SpinVox, the speech-to-text application we talked about a few weeks ago, and Slingbox, which is planning BlackBerry availability sometime this year.

So, our friend Chris over at Mobile Diner got a sweet video of a demonstration of Guitar Hero III during CTIA today… see the video below to check it out.

I’d be lying if I said that we (okay, I) can’t WAIT to get home and play around with it… expect a full review soon.

(Disclaimer: I may or may not be a complete Guitar Hero addict, along with being a BB addict and the combination of the two being available together could shut down this blog)

Live from CTIA: Sprint 8330 CDMA Curve Release

Well, we just brought you the coverage of the BlackBerry booth and the Verizon CDMA Curve release and video. Then we headed back downstairs to grab you video footage of the Sprint CDMA Curve… that’s right… you have no only the Verizon CDMA Curve now folks, but you also have it on the Sprint Network. Check out the video below to see a preview of the device…

I’ll grab some standard digital pics of the device on my next trip down and simply add them to this post. In all honesty, in all the excitement of seeing two brand new Curves after breaking the original CDMA Curve story a while back, I got the video and ran upstairs to get it published completely forgetting to take any stills! ;-)

Hey guys! Live form CTIA we bring you pics of the BlackBerry booth moments after the expo hall opened. As you can see, it didn’t take long for it to fill up. Below are some of the booth pictures, as well as me with the BlackBerry man. Additionally, there is a video of the CDMA Curve from Verizon.

The BB booth wasn’t able to say definitively if it would have GPS enabled… and Verizon doesn’t have a booth, just a meeting room, which is empty at the moment. Oh, and much love to the guitar hero playing RIM employee who made my day by telling us he loves the bbgeeks.com site! More later…

We’re here at the CTIA 2008 wireless convnetion, live in Las Vegas. Yesterday was a warm-up session, featuring a number of conferences, including the Smartphone Summit and Mobile Entertainment Live.
