With the BlackBerry Curve 8350i, BlackBerry finally entered the world of Push To Talk. In the States we’re used to all that being on the Nextel network, which is infamous for its chirping walkie talkies. Other carriers have given it ago, but it doesn’t sound like they’re finding much success. Up in Canada, Telus is giving it a whirl with their MIKE network. Not only that, but they’ve introduce a text-to-speech function so that users can send PTT messages via text. To promote this they’ve set up Noordinaryphone.com. I only mention this because if you click on Demos and then click on Experience Push to Talk, you can check out their PTT demo. You can make the two men say just about anything. Not only that, but you can share it. So if you come up with something neat (but clean), you can share it on Twitter (which didn’t work for me), Facebook, and others. It’s a nice distraction on a gloomy (at least here) Friday.
Today we pick up where we left off last week with 12 Ways to Become a Better BlackBerry Geek. We’re picking up the back six this time, and boy are they geeky. As in, dressing up as an elf and going to a Lord of the Rings convention geeky. So, without further ado, the tandem of Joe and Cooper bring you six more ways to be a better geek.

The following is a collaborative effort by Joe and Cooper. Yes, it takes two of us to come up with this tripe.
So you swear you are a Blackerry Geek. You you can never seem to put the device down for more than a minute. Your family and friends have grown accustomed to conversation consisting mainly of grunts, half acknowledgements and the virtual extinction of eye contact — and your children are 8 inches taller and three years older than you last remember them. Sure you are a BlackBerry addict, but that is a far cry from being a BlackBerry Geek. It is for you o’weary thumbed one that I wrote this guide to becoming a better BlackBerry Geek. You see, it is not how long you use your BlackBerry for, or how quickly you can reply to that ever growing stack of email in your inbox. Becoming a better geek is all about taking the everyday geeky things you do day in and day out and doing them smarter and on the go.
In conjunction with whatever model of BlackBerry you are currently fixated on, BBGeeks.com presents. . .

If I could describe the following video clip in a word, it would be geeky. I hadn’t seen the video of the BlackBerry Storm controlling the RC car, but apparently it garnered some attention. In particular, the folks from the McLaren Mercedes F1 team enjoyed the video so much that they created a similar hook-up for an actual F1. Believe it? I’ll side with the folks at Autoblog and remain skeptical: “It’s an amusing viral video and halfway convincing if we weren’t willing to swear on our mothers that McLaren Mercedes would never allow its multi-million dollar F1 car to be controlled via a phone, let alone outfit the car with enough servos to actually perform the functions of steering, braking and changing gears.” Video after the jump.

Upon first glance at the BlackBerry Pearl, one might thing it’s a bit…emasculating. After all, its size just doesn’t hold up to the bulkier 88xx, 87xx, or even the Curve. You don’t get a full QWERTY keyboard, which is a manly feature to have. You get a tiny screen, which just isn’t suitable for a man’s eyes. While some might call into question a male Pearl user’s manhood, we at BBGeeks think you can still be a man’s man. Here are a few good reasons why.
Normally we’d save the disclaimer for later, but just to be certain, this post is in jest. We do not think that you’re less of a man for having a BlackBerry Pearl, nor do we look down upon women for using it. In fact, I know more men than women who own a Pearl. Just so we’re clear on this.

I had to pass along this image someone emailed me over the weekend. It looks like it has been around for a bit, but if I ain’t seen it, it’s new to me.

Since it is now out of the bag that John McCain, and not RIM, invented the BlackBerry (details on RIMgate), the Mac Attack decided to partner with Couch to offer the very first John McCain Series Holster*.
That’s right! And rumor has it that the Sarah Palin edition accessories of the McCain accessory line may be expanding later this year if enough of the public elects to use them.
Without further ado, here is a look what we hear is being called the “Sarah Palin Edition BlackBerry Holster” from the soon to be released line of accessories being referred to as the “Senator John McCain Series” according to our Couch insider:

We’ve been working on BBGeeks for over a year now, though most of our readers haven’t become familiar with us until recently. While all of us here at BBGeeks have been tapping away at our devices for longer than the site has existed, maintaining a site dedicated to BlackBerry requires a different level of geekdom.
Along the way, we’ve picked up a number of tips and tricks for the BlackBerry, and have tried to pass them all along to you. Today, we’re compiling some of the odds and ends into one piece. So…
Did you know your BlackBerry can:

So the folks at Crackberry.com are gearing up for their upcoming book, CRACKBERRY: True Tales of BlackBerry Use and Abuse. But before they get to publishing it, they’re looking for user BlackBerry stories. These can be anything from stories of when you left your BlackBerry behind when you shouldn’t have, to stories of when yo used your BlackBerry when you clearly shouldn’t have. I’m sure we all have a few, but if you have something you think is particularly remarkable, hit ‘em up and make a submission. Your bounty for inclusion is a free copy of the book. Video promo, complete with porn background music, after the jump.

I was on my way home from a conference the other week when I met a guy in the airport who was tapping away on his BlackBerry (no big shock there, so was I) and we got to chatting about BlackBerry additiction and he told me a funny story that I’m sure you BBGeeks will appreciate the same way I did.
