The time-tested BlackBerry form factor appears on its way out. BlackBerry 7 smartphones are the last of the current line of BlackBerry devices, with BBX set to take over the franchise. While we’ve seen mock-ups of the BlackBerry Colt, the codename for RIM’s debut BBX device, contain the old form factor, that will not be a reality. Instead RIM plans to go with the full touchscreen style. In fact, if I’m correctly reading between the lines of this PC Magazine article, it sounds as though there won’t be any physical buttons. No back, no menu, no send or end. For PlayBook owners, this makes complete sense.
