We get some updates on the Storm, and yes, the Curve. Some people were clamoring the other day when BGR pointed out that the Storm might come in November, not October. To those, I ask: Don’t you want them to get it right? I think there’s something honorable in that. You know, as long as they’re not just slacking.

BlackBerry Storm a bit further off than we thought
Posted by Joe on September 5, 2008
Cell phone release delayed. Also see: “Ball player cheats on wife.” There’s little surprise in Boy Genius Report’s rumor — “double confirmed” — that the Storm’s release had been delayed internally. They’re saying three to four weeks.
There was a little rabble in the comments about the accuracy of the info, but you never know who’re leaving these comments. Right, guys?

Getting psychic with your BlackBerry
Posted by Joe on September 4, 2008
Living in New York City, I often run into people with strange hobbies. Many of these involve the psychic realm. They might not be Madam Cleo, but many of these people take their psychic readings seriously. This involves everything from palm reading to tarot cards to astrology and horoscopes. There’s one thing that links at least a few of them: BlackBerry.
You can’t walk 10 steps in this city without seeing someone working on their ‘Berry. This doesn’t exclude the psychics among us. They use their BlackBerry just like you and me. So why not use it to further their hobbies? Just for these guys and gals, we’ll take a look at some of the stranger apps for BlackBerry.

A tale of two expensive BlackBerrys
Posted by Joe on September 4, 2008
As a friend of mine would say, holy crap-moley! We’ve got a little tale of rich and obsessed BlackBerry fans for you — spread over two different new models, no less. First up is the BlackBerry Bold, via Boy Genius Report. You know, that device that’s made us tap our foot and glance at our watch. Turns out, some guy in New York got his hands on five bolds, and unloaded them for $1,299.99. His name, as described by BGR, is “Joe at BlackBerry Business,” which sounds like a radio-show caller. They are sold out now, though I’m not sure anyone reading this is particularly disappointed. I mean, thirteen-hundred dollars! Pic of the listing, and another expensive listing, after the jump.

AT&T to add BlackBerry Curve 8320, OS 4.5
Posted by Joe on September 3, 2008
Good news for BlackBerry users on AT&T. No, the Bold hasn’t been announced yet. Strangely enough, this involves an announcement of an older model heading to Ma Bell. Boy Genius Report tells us that the Curve 8320 — y’know, the one with WiFi on T-Mobile — will be hitting the nation’s largest carrier at the end of the month. This comes with free logins at AT&T’s 17,000 nationwide WiFi hotspots, including those at Starbucks. I’m assuming the same deal will be available for the Bold. Further, it will come with OS 4.5, which we’ll get to discussing in just one second.

Checking traffic conditions from your BlackBerry
Posted by Joe on September 2, 2008
What’s on your checklist before you take a drive? Cell phone, wallet/purse, keys. And then come the little extras: iPod, Bluetooth, applicable chargers, etc. For most people, checking traffic conditions is not on that list. Yet, doesn’t it make just as much sense as the first three item? Your iPod might be a nice luxury, but it isn’t necessary to get from Point A to Point B. Traffic conditions, on the other hand, can greatly affect your trip.
Previously, the only way to check on potential congestion was on a local news channel. Even then, you have to check at the right time for the update. Now, though, we’re seeing a number of applications for the BlackBerry which can greatly aide your travel time and frustration. Today, we look at traffic applications for your BlackBerry.

Rogers unveils new data plans, effective October 1
Posted by Joe on September 2, 2008
The great Rogers data saga continues. Via BlackBerry News, we’re seeing that the company has sifted through usage data and used it as the basis for new plans. Did you know that 95 percent or Rogers iPhone users are consuming less than 500 MB per month? It seems a little strange, but if that’s what the numbers bear out…
The promotional data plan, $30 for six gigs, will be available until October 1. Even if you sign up after that, Rogers is offering three months of unlimited data so that users can gauge their activity level. As such, if you sign up after October 1 it is advisable to utilize the $15 plan for those three months. Afterwards, you’ll have a 2 MB cap, but you can change it depending on your usage.

Pricing info on the AT&T Bold and Rogers 8220
Posted by Joe on August 29, 2008
We’ll start off with the juicy BlackBerry Bold info. I caught this on BlackBerry News, though they got it through Gizmodo. Rumor is that the Bold will hit AT&T shelves on September 12, and carry a $299 price on a two-year contract. So it’s just like Rogers, except minus a year of commitment. Let’s hope they got that 3G reception issue worked out. The Boy Genius is hearing October 2, but he admits that this isn’t “double or triple confirmed.” Let’s hope BlackBerry News is right.
