We all know that the BlackBerry is an incredible device which allows us to keep up with the flood of email which bombards us on a daily basis. This is the primary reason the BlackBerry has become the go to communications device for the business professional.

That being said; however, the BlackBerry also has the potential to keep you entertained during your downtime as well. Using BlackBerry home screen shortcuts

Posted by Rae on January 16, 2008

The BlackBerry is set up so that when you pull it out of the holster, you can immediately dial from the home screen without hitting anything other than numbers on the BlackBerry. But if you’re anything like me, you don’t use the phone feature of your BlackBerry as much as you do the rest of the features combined. That’s where home screen shortcuts come in.

Recycling your old phones and PDAs

Posted by Joe on January 16, 2008

There was some talk over this past sumer about the ineffectiveness of cell phone recycling programs. There is a great hazard in throwing your cell phone in the trash. Not only are you wasting parts that can be used in other devices, but the environmental effects are akin to throwing away batteries. There are a few companies that encourage recycling, such as Virgin Mobile, and AT&T, who promote Cell Phones for Soldiers. Now we have third parties getting into the mix, like Recycling for Charities.

PocketGPSWorld reviews BlackBerry car cradle

Posted by Joe on January 15, 2008

We’re figuring to see a lot of these in the near future — heck, there are probably plenty of them already. We know that the BlackBerry 8800 series — as well as the new Pearls — have GPS capabilities. This is great for those of us who travel frequently by car. Just plug in your destination and get turn-by-turn directions. Ah, but where do you put the device in your car? You’ve got a few options, but unless you’ve got a cradle like the Carcomm one, you might be moving your head too often for safety on the road.

Where was I when I made that call?

Posted by Joe on January 11, 2008

The best feature of a BlackBerry, obviously, is its portability. You can take it anywhere you get cell reception and perform nearly any task imaginable. Problem is, sometimes because you’re out and about so much, you forget where you did something. Not that it’s always important. But sometimes it is, and as your mother told you, better safe than sorry. A new application from Flowfinity Wireless will take care of that issue for you. It uses your BlackBerry’s GPS to tag every action you perform on your phone with the location you were in when it took place.

Posted by Joe on January 10, 2008

And BlackBerry’s ubiquity expands. Partnering with Grameenphone Ltd., Research In Motion has announced that their BlackBerry smartphone will be available in Bangladesh through Grameephone’s Business Solutions. This is a major step forward for Bangladeshans (is that even right?), who will now have mobile access to email, web browsing, messaging, phones, and the other gamut of features provided by the BlackBerry.

How to schedule an appointment with Quick Entry

Posted by Rae on January 9, 2008

If you’re a fanatical user of the Calander in your BlackBerry 8800 series (I always tell people if they aren’t in my calendar, they will indeed be forgotten) you might find this tip to be of use. Normally, when you need to enter an appointment, you need to hit to calendar button, then find the time and click it and then enter in the details about the meeting.
