Okay, so it’s not exactly the most original name. But for BlackBerry users, names might not matter much. The Spa at Halo [For Men] in Chicago is offering CrackBerry hand massage, and Glenn Jeffers of the Chicago Tribune had a go at it. We have to say, we’re a bit impressed.

NewsGator Go Feed Reader Review

Posted by Joe on December 14, 2007

Welcome back to Feed Reader Fridays here at BBGeeks.com. If you missed our previous review of the FreeNews reader, take a minute to check it out.

As RSS becomes more and more popular, it is being adopted by the mobile generation. This mobile adoption has lead to innovations in how we handle RSS feeds and in particular, how we handle the synchronization of these feeds across multiple platforms.

This Fridays feed reader review features the NewsGator Go RSS reader. One of the key selling points for this reader is the ease of synchronization between traditional online reading and on the go viewing of selected news feeds. For BlackBerry users who track a large number of feeds on a regular basis, the NewsGator Go feed reader just might be the feed reader for you.

Free mobile shopping from your BlackBerry

Posted by Joe on December 13, 2007

Unfortunately, the products themselves aren’t free. But the application is. Alltel is now offering its BlackBerry customers a free shopping application, using the new Digby service. This will provide access to stores like Barnes & Nobile, Best Buy, Godiva Chocolatier (hint hint, gentlemen), Vermont Teddy Bears, Fossil, and Wine.com, among many others. The best part about this service is that it’s one integrated storefront, so you can combine purchases from the retailers into one order.

The Facebook “is” lives on in the BlackBerry app

Posted by Rae on December 13, 2007

Many Facebook users were overjoyed this morning to see that Facebook had finally relented and made the “is” in the status updates optional. Now you can be any preposition or verb you’d like! ;-)

One small snag though for those of us using the incredibly handy Facebook BlackBerry App… we still are forced to use the “is” at the time of this posting.

Google Sync for BlackBerry

Posted by Joe on December 13, 2007

Google, Google Google. If you keep repeating it, it will lose all meaning to you. But it won’t make them go away. It seems they’re launching something new every day. Well, late yesterday it was the syncing of your Google calendar and your BlackBerry. Yeah, and it also supports Google Apps, which is very beneficial on a mobile device. Hey, it’s another free spreadsheet program, so there’s little to complain about in this one.

K-k-karma for Naomi Campbell

Posted by Joe on December 12, 2007

Lots going on at BBGeeks over the past couple of days. You can check out my Yahoo! Go article, Rae’s announcement of United Mileage Plus program, or Cooper’s fantastic Yahoo! Go walk-through. Or you could read about how Naomi Campbell got her BlackBerry stolen at a Led Zeppelin concert. Yes, this is the same woman who was sentenced to community service for assaulting her maid with a BlackBerry — though this is probably her third or fourth device since.

Posted by Joe on December 12, 2007

Did you know that just 13 percent of U.S. cell phone subscribers use the Web from their phones? There are plenty of reasons for this, including the inflated price for all-you-can eat data plans. If you’re one of the many without a mobile data plan, Yahoo! wants to make sure it’s not for difficulty of access. Their mobile interface, Yahoo! Go 2.0, provides an extremely easy path to mobile web browsing glory. Even if you’ve never picked up a smartphone of any kind, you’ll be able to navigate the web in no time flat with Yahoo! Go.

First ever BlackBerry store opens

Posted by Cooper on December 11, 2007

Usually, when shopping for a BlackBerry, you might have to hit a number of stores. Because the devices are carried by all different carriers, there is no one central place to shop around for which BlackBerry device and service works best for you. Until now, that is. If you live near Farmington Hills, Michigan, you can take a trip to the world’s first BlackBerry store, where you can find phones, accessories, software applications, and service activation from the four major carriers: Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon.
