Hopefully you can clarify – I just purchased a Blackberry Storm. Do I need to keep my personal computer on if I want to access my email while away from the house? (I’ve been told by a few people I cannot). I’ve searched many forum threads and have been unable to find an answer. Please help! Thanks.

I use http://www.123together.com to sync my desktop to my hosted exhange service. The company provides both.

@BlackberryBeard: You should only need basic BIS for your wife’s account. The Hotmail should work the same, and you can check your Gmail in a number of ways:

@Dave – I use Google Sync for Mobile. Works great. It installs on my BB and syncs the native BB calendar with my Google calendar.

I’ve had one related nagging question for years that I’ve not seen the answer too: I am on a company BES and have my wife’s GMail and Hotmail synced to my blackberry. GMail syncs in real-time and Hotmail (an older account) syncs every 15 minutes or so. We are planning to get my wife her own personal blackberry and I want to know if when I transfer her accounts to the new device, do I need to get BES or BIS in order for them to continue working like the do now?

I sync contacts and calendar via Desktop Manager and I don’t care about synchronizing them in real-time.
