Janet, absolutely not. I don’t know who told you that, but they clearly don’t know what they’re talking about. The beauty of your BlackBerry is having the ability to check your email wherever you are.

Hopefully you can clarify – I just purchased a Blackberry Storm. Do I need to keep my personal computer on if I want to access my email while away from the house? (I’ve been told by a few people I cannot). I’ve searched many forum threads and have been unable to find an answer. Please help! Thanks.

I use http://www.123together.com to sync my desktop to my hosted exhange service. The company provides both.

@BlackberryBeard: You should only need basic BIS for your wife’s account. The Hotmail should work the same, and you can check your Gmail in a number of ways:

@Dave – I use Google Sync for Mobile. Works great. It installs on my BB and syncs the native BB calendar with my Google calendar.
