Opera doesn't seem to have any select/copy/paste capability - normally selected via the 'BB' button. The 'BB' button brings up a search/URL pair of txt boxes but lately I can't even select which one to use (defaults to the URL txt box).

Faster than the native browser but I suppose that's not saying much. Will definitely try Bolt.

Will either give me the ability to upload pictures directly to facebook? Do the browsers have the same functions as the BB Browser?

Opera seemed choppy for me in the cursor movement department, seemed like an ordeal just to click on a link. But this might just me my device. Although it is relatively new with a 500+ mhz processor and handles anything else I've used it for nicely so not sure of the reason for this.

Bolt on the other hand is a dream to navigate by trackball/pad, the motion is quick and responsive, the scrolling is intuitive, and it "jumps" from button to button for you as you move down pages making them feel more like menus, which is just awesome.

Its probably just me but I've found Opera 5 hard to work with. The menu button, which allows access to thr favorites, refresh, bookmarks, and the shutdown option doesn't work. Leaving the application open uses a lot of battery power. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong??? Do I need to clear some memory? If so how do I do that in Opera?

Mini Opera 4.3 had a long, single list for all bookmarks. They were almost impossible to organize -- worst case was moving a new bookmark from the bottom of the list to the top of the list -- one - place - at - a - time, each step requiring a dozen key clicks. But grouoing similar bookmarks in the list was the only option for organizing them. Version 5 provides Folders, which finally provides a proper way to organize bookmarks, and reduces the need to tediously shuffle the order of the bookmarks.

Unfortunately, when I upgraded from 4.3 to 5, the process deleted all my bookmarks. Extremely rude and anti-productive. No warning.

I'm not experienced at Blackberry Desktop -- perhaps it could have provided a backup. Or "synching" Opera.

Also, version 5 is a strain on the BB 8300. The mouse has become sticky. Sometimes it moves in tiny steps, sometimes it overshoots in too-big steps. So difficult to control, Version 5 is useless to me. Fresh restart with no other apps running doesn't help. Probably too much program for this little phone.

It's already uninstalled. I may go back to 4.3 (if I can find it). Or maybe Bolt. And I think I saw Mozilla has a mobile browser.

Final thought (thanks). The 8830 has 64 MB of ram, and after a fresh restart, Status shows 10 MB free with Opera uninstalled. The tiny ram is obviously responsible for a range of instabilities, and probably also that mouse problem in mini opera 5.

Best luck.

@Dawn The term "drop down" is correct. You should have no problems accessing these menu items using Bolt or Opera. They may be using a type of script that is throwing the BB browser for a loop.

I'm sure there is a word for the thing I'm about to describe; I just don't know what it is.
My bank's website, ravelry.com, recipezaar.com, and several other sites share one feature that makes them hard to use on bb's native browser. They have "drop down menu" boxes. (I am usually a proud geek, but I don't seem to know how to phrase things in this context...)
In the native browser I have found *no* way to use those boxes.
*THAT* is the functionality that I am shopping for. What is it called and how do Opera and Bolt compare in that aspect?
