While yours truly might not be totally geeked for the BlackBerry Kickstart, I certainly can’t contain myself when it comes to the Thunder — or the 9500, as it will apparently be called. I’ve expressed some concerns about the Thunder in past editions of the BBGeekcast, including the need for it to contain a hefty amount of flash memory if it’s going to compete with the iPhone. Yesterday, we were treated to some images of the 9500 which display some of its multimedia features. Apparently, it will features an over the air music store. You don’t have an OTA music store without having a boatload of onboard memory, right?

Lookin’ pretty sharp, eh? It looks like a basic iPhone clone, which is fine and good, since it will drop on Verizon. However, I’m sure as we get closer to the official release we’ll get more details as to how RIM will set this device apart from Apple. Hey, if anyone can compete with the iPhone, it’s RIM.
