Ooh, lookey lookey, it’s the second straight week of Theme Review Wednesdays. Usually we alternate theme reviews with how-tos, but given our NCAA tournament contest with Themes4BB, we decided to write up two of their themes this week, including one totally related to the tournament. It’s a little late in timing, but here are this week’s themes for your BlackBerry.
March Madness 2009
What would be a Theme Review Wednesday the day before the start of the tournament without a theme related to it? Not one at all, if you ask me. So we lead off with Theme4BB’s March Madness 2009 theme. It’s a pretty basic Bold theme, which is fine, since March Madness will eventually turn to April and therefore baseball. So you can check out all of their MLB themes after the tournament is over (right, guys? right?).
I love the action shots in the Home Screen Logo. They look well thought out, and the school logos behind them add to the design. Below you can add six icons, which makes this a pretty simple bottom dock theme. Once in the Applications Menu the background switches to a basketball court. There really isn’t a blending issue here — and you know if there was I’d complain about it.
The best part of the March Madness 2009 theme, other than getting us pumped up for the tournament, is that it’s free. You can get it over at the Themes4BB forums. The only cost is the time it takes you to register for the forum. Have fun, get pumped, and go Big East!
Windows Mobile 6 theme
Why you would want a Windows Mobile look when you have a BlackBerry is beyond me. In fact, some WinMo users will be more than glad to use the BlackBerry Application Suite, which essentially installs the BlackBerry OS on their phone. WinMo rants aside, this theme is actually quite sharp. That might be a product of it being a Bold (OS 4.6) theme, but it’s crisp, clean, and completely functional.
On the Home Screen it features both Calendar and Messages today functions, a number of new message indicators, and six customizable desktop icons. This is one of my favorite aspects of OS 4.6. It allows you to fit almost everything you need right on the home screen. With Options and Profile icons, plus the Calendar and Messages functions, already on the Home Screen, I don’t think I’d have to use anything beyond my top six applications with any frequency.
It’s quite a well-done theme, as are most of the ones we see from Themes4BB. You can get the Windows Mobile 6 theme over at Themes4BB for $6.99.
