Is it Wednesday already? Guess it’s time to sort through all the themes I’ve checked out over the past few weeks and compile them into our bi-weekly feature, Theme Review Wednesdays. This time around we have two themes for the 4.6 and higher operating systems, and just one that works with younger builds. That one, though, is a bit special. As we’ve done a couple of times before, it’s for the ladies.

Fusion Aura

When browsing around for BlackBerry themes, I never fail root around at Themes4bb. They have such a great collection of themes, and it seems that I find one or two I like every time I take a look. One that particularly caught my eye this time around was Fusion Aura, a Today preview theme that runs across multiple platforms. It features a great design and a Home Screen full of icons.

The first thing that caught my eye with this one was the background image. The sun rays beaming through the trees is really pleasing to the eyes, especially with the yellow-blue scheme the theme utilizes. You can customize the wallpaper if you want, but this one is just so pretty. Atop the screen reside a dozen icons, all of which the user can choose. Despite the high-def wallpaper, the icons are minimalist for the most part. The background changes on the Applications Menu, but it’s a simple grid, featuring the same simple icons.

HeroBerry

One prominent trend in BlackBerry themery is making ones to resemble some other OS. We’ve used and liked themes which have mimicked Windows 7, Apple OSX, and even an iPhone. The next up for review resembles the HTC Hero, and is appropriately named HeroBerry. It’s a neat idea for a theme, and it really works, keeping most icons hidden until you need them.

The dock is pretty neat, allowing you hide and view your Home Screen icons. I don’t know why you wouldn’t, but the function is nothing if not a novelty. It’s even better on the Storm version, as the left and right expandable buttons allow you to cycle through different icons. Since only four icons are available at a time, this allows for 12 different icons on the main screen. There is also weather application integration on the lock screen, another plus. Now you don’t even have to unlock your phone to see what the conditions are like.

Rose StiLetto

Once again, we have a theme for the ladies. I do notice that many of our theme reviews feature guy-ish themes. They’re usually filled with cool features and other bells and whistles. This one is pretty simple, though, featuring the basic screens and little more. Also, there’s not even a Today preview on this one — though I think the ladies will agree that the Today is a pretty sweet feature. It’s a custom L theme, hence the little play in the theme’s name.

The theme’s focal point is a rose bush in the shape of a stiletto heel. Next to that are six standard BlackBerry icons, except they’re pink instead of black. That also applies in the Applications Menu, where everything is laid out like a standard theme, only the boxes are pink. The font is some sort of comic variation, so it’s clearly not up my alley. But I’m just a stupid male, so what do I know? The six Home Screen options are completely customizable.
