Well, I promised them a week ago. Finally, fellow geekers, I have brought you pictures of the impending CDMA Curve. I’ll start posting them below the jump. You can find out some of the features by going back and reading last week’s post. Yes, it has GPS. No, as you’ll see, the keyboard is not like the 8830, but rather like the previous Curve model. It’s the 8330, and no I have no idea on a release date, nor which CDMA carrier will carry this first. So, take a gander for yourself:

They keys are nice and spaced out. That seemed to be one of the bigger issues last week.

And there’s your GPS…

Gotta love the warning on the back of test models. And, of course, there’s the camera.

I’ll see what information I can dig up in the next few weeks, but the general consensus I’ve been hearing is that we’re definitely not seeing this drop this month on any CDMA provider. We can start the watch in March, though there may be an announcement before then.

25 A Canadian Guy March 20, 2008 at 2:53 pm

Today Telus Employees, at their downtown Oakville location confirmed they will be releasing a CDMA version of the Blackberry Curve, the 8330. The employee said they were told it should be released in early April and will cost around $549 with no contract.
For Canadian GSM users Rogers of course has their version of the curve.
All of this leaving Bell customers currently out of luck, as Bell has yet to release any information on a curve of their own.

If you have any more questions, Telus employees are very helpful, feel free to visit a Telus store where they would be more then happy to answer all of your questions.

26 DN March 15, 2008 at 10:37 pm

Oh come on with this thing already! Sprint is killing me with the busted-ass phones they have. Tried to switch to AT&T late last year to have a phone that I’m not embarrassed to carry. Too bad the phone service is pure garbage, so here I wait for my damn crackberry.

27 Jovz March 12, 2008 at 8:43 am

Guys,

Do blackberry has a software patch or upgrade to make 8320 become 8330? May be its only a software upgrade. Phone looks the same, yet only additional GPS. Or may be a dip switch you need to turn on inside the phone to become 8330 or GPS capable?

Send me your comments.

Cooper 31 Joe March 10, 2008 at 2:31 pm

I have no word on when Verizon will release the Curve. I’ve been asking, but no answers have come yet. And I have no word on it being a World Edition, but there is no indication whatsoever that it will be.

32 LoveHateVerizon March 9, 2008 at 2:58 pm

Ok, so it’s March now. Does anyone at BBGeeks know when Verizon will release the Curve? Any updates? Also, will it be a World Edition, or no? Someone mentioned they were advised it would not. I loathe their current world edition model – how can they label it a smartphone when it doesn’t have a camera? It’s large and feels like an old scientific calculator. I hope one day they would come out with a model that has the camera on the face of the phone to have Skype or iChat. Really need that camera!

33 alltel pearl owner March 7, 2008 at 9:40 pm

Notice the camera configuration. It looks more like the AT&T version vs. the CDMA versions like Alltel and Verizon

34 Joe March 5, 2008 at 11:33 am

In the new Verizon brochures there is a picture of someone holding a phone that looks a lot like the curve that is pictured above…..so it looks like its coming for sure but no timeline.

35 Chris March 4, 2008 at 2:20 pm

I will definately be getting this phone when it reaches Telus Mobility in Canada. I Can’t wait for it.

36 PhxZooGeek March 3, 2008 at 11:30 am

1 week, and no updates??? Can someone please feed my need for CURVE juice?
I’ve been on the phone with Sprint Customer Service and they’re including BIS (Blackbery Internet Service) with their $99.99 Simply Everything plan. This means that we don’t have to pay an extra $34 to have a blackberry! Can someone PLEASE update this post?

There is a huge thread on Howard Forums concerning the VZW Curve.

http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1273487

38 liquidplatinum February 25, 2008 at 9:05 pm

boslady,

Because I’m familiar with the device. I know people that are testing it and I know RIM reps that have told me that it isn’t a World Edition. However, there is a VZW BlackBerry that is a World Edition device that will supposedly be available late this year.

39 Traci Kessler February 24, 2008 at 10:56 pm

I want the Blackberry Curve really bad. I, too, went to ATT today and almost changed carrier from Verizon to AT&T. Please don’t let this be a rumor. I have the BB 8830 and love it. But, I hate that a co-worker (AT&T customer) has out done me yet again.

40 rfenik February 20, 2008 at 12:16 pm

You can activate GPS function on any 8xxx Blackberry phone without built-in GPS receiver. You just need bluetooth or usb gps receiver.
They go for around $100.

41 Mahchu February 19, 2008 at 2:00 pm

Ubong and Cameron make great points, but from the pictures on Crackberry.com(that link to these pictures as well and seem to be the same device) you can clearly see sprints telenav icon on the device menu. It has also been pointed out that sprint would have close to no reason to offer a wifi device over a gps device since they operate no sort of wifi hotspots as T-Mobile has. These points would lead most to believe that the CDMA 8330 will either have only gps, but we can always hope for wifi.

42 Caseus February 17, 2008 at 6:14 pm

i went to ebay and typed in blackberry 8330 and i saw a blackberry i’ve never seen before here is the picture

43 Cameron February 14, 2008 at 6:07 pm

Ubong is correct. Having GPS in the menu means nothing. That menu spot is standard, and (this is a guess) could be there to manage any bluetooth GPS devices the BB might link to. I have a Curve from T-Mo, which has the GPS in the advanced menu, but the phone does not have GPS. Thanks all.

44 boslady February 14, 2008 at 3:26 pm

liquidplatinum,

how do you know it won’t be global?

45 jbyrd711 February 14, 2008 at 2:03 pm

GPS menu means nothing, if/when VZW picks up this device, you can count on paying for VZNAV. VZW Pearl also has this menu

50 Ubong February 13, 2008 at 12:41 am

Hello people I have something I would like to comment on that caught my attention. When I heard about the Curve 8330 I was very excited. I had first read about it on another site..I believe it was endagdet where it stated that the phone would not have gps (which didn’t make me to happy). Of course I always look into info on more than one site just to make that other related sites have similar info. And I read it some where else that it wouldn’t have gps and of course I was bummed about this. I came here and to my delightment It stated the phone would have gps and also had a picture to confirm, and that practically confirmed it for me. But today I was talking to my girl whom has a curve for tmobile and she brought to my attention that her phone has gps but she didn’t know how to use it (of course we all know the curve for tmobile doesn’t have stand alone gps well unless they intentionally disabled itwhich I doubt). I asked her what mad her think her phone had gps and explained to her that my phone (sprint 8830) and her phone Curve 8320 are different phones and she said no that’s not why she thinks so. She explained to me that when she goes to advance settings on her phone she sees a gps option. And that’s what had me thinking. I was looking at her phone today and she was right there is a gps option but when you click on it, it says “none” and “device 8830″ as the selectable options which obviously means there is no gps. Now is it a fact that this phone will have gps based on hardware specs released by RIM. Because if its based on the picture up there with the gps option being showed that doesn’t really mean anything considering that once you click on the option there might really be no option to enable gps just like on the tmobile curve. What do you guys think.

GPS in the menu means nothing. No doubt the GPS will be disabled on VZW except if used with their extra cost VZNavigator service (just like all othe 7xxx and 8xxx bb’s have been on VZW).

Hard to distinguish a lot of difference between this and the 9xxx pictures we saw last month.

If it goes to Verizon, it will be at least 6 more months, so they can disable everything in it first, then come up with their programs and features to charge you for (GPS is a definite extra charge).

71 pamela February 11, 2008 at 2:37 pm

from this picture it looks like this one is going to sprint, just because from all the colors of their other devices in the past. Verizon will probably get one that’s all silver or all light gray.

72 CTB February 11, 2008 at 2:24 pm

Someone must have a projected release date? The span of March to mid-June is too vague. What about the person who had this test model? Is it reasonable to think the testing could take from now until June (5 months) before it drops? Seems like a long time.

I’ll be really excited though if you get anything some what solid on a release date that is not just another rumor. Oh dear Joe thank you.
