@N abdulaziz Ok here goes =)

1. Yes you can access many services without the apps but most will be browser based which is not ideal at the moment. An example of this would be FaceBook - You can get the app or you can browse m.facebook.com. usually the apps make it easier to accomplish dedicated tasks on the various social networks.

Also it is important to keep in mind that many apps will require a full BlackBerry data plan despite the fact you wish to connect over wifi.

2. No - you will have to download and convert any video files (TV) that you wish to view on your BlackBerry. This may change with the introduction of the WebKit browser that is due shortly.

3. Yes your BBM is free for the most part and included in your BlackBerry data package. If you roam however you will be charged for any data used. This is because the network you are roaming on charges your carrier for the activity so they end up passing it along to you.

Hope that helped - If you have Twitter on your BlackBerry you should follow the BBGeeks account ( @BBGeeks ) You can ask all kinds of questions there and I answer promptly.

If you need a Twitter app just check out our rankings here:

Hi, I am considering getting a bold 2, my first blackberry.

I have asked for help and feedback preivously on other sites. Looking for advice re: what the device can do.

basically, where I am, my desktop computer comes on a 3g internet usb modem, and has exorbtant charges per mb downloaded.

however, the phone service here offers unlimited internet access on a blackberry.

what i need to know is this:
1. if i have wifi and unlimited internet access, why do i need to downloads "apps" to view things like facebook, expedia, google maps etc? aren't these all on the net, and just as easy to view without using the app?

2. is it possible to watch tv shows on your bb? without first downloading them to the desktop and then t/f them via usb. because obviously, i have to pay to download anything on my desktop but hav an unlimited plan on my bb..

i'm talking about streaming megavideo/zshare etc. is that doable? and what is it dependant upon?

i live currently in southern africa, will videosfor blackberry work for me? or will the primetime shows be blocked? if that is hte case is there somewhere i can watch them, on my bb, by streaming?

3. with a blaclberry, there are 2 ways of linkigng up with the outside world, es? one is via internet on your wifi, and the other is via the data package on your bb.. like, sms, calls, and bbm.

is bbm included in the data package? i heard bbm is free for all bb users wherever you go int he world, is that true? if i roam, can i still use my bbm for free?

thanks for your help! im a complete greenberry!

Yeah, me too :(
It is fun to get a "your computer may be at risk" virus pop-up when I hit the site on my BB. NOTE: the site appears to be infected with the antivirus2010 viral software. Beware when browsing.
