Wait, I thought that T-Mobile was supposed to have this first. I guess not. Maybe their overstock of colored first-gen Pearls held them back. But in any case, AT&T has announced the release of the BlackBerry Pearl 8120. On the surface, it seems the same as the CDMA Pearl 8130. That would make enough sense. It has the same upgrades: Better web browser, 2.0 MP camera. But AT&T has a goodie in theirs that Verizon, Sprint, and Alltel lack in the 8130: Wi-Fi.

I was a bit confused by the Wi-Fi inclusion at first. I hadn’t heard about it, but I’m sure it was out there before yesterday. But the confusion came in the form of the BlackBerry Curve, which AT&T also carries. T-Mobile has it as a Wi-Fi unit, while AT&T does not. So naturally, I thought AT&T simply did not want Wi-Fi on their devices.
I thought wrong.
It’s available now, “through business channels,” according to CNET, whatever that means. It’ll cost you $199.99 after you sign a two-year contract and mail in your rebate form.
