A new picture of the BlackBerry Kickstart popped up the other day, rekindling rumors regarding the rumored flip device from RIM. Yesterday, CrackBerry got their hands on some slides describing “The BlackBerry Flip Experience.” No mention of the word Kickstart, though. It goes over some of the messaging, alert, and multimedia features of the phone. I guess this comes from RIM, but there’s no real indicator of the source (what’s with the red bar in the top right corner of the slides?).
The best part of this, as I’ve said, is the external display. It won’t give you a whole message, but you can at least nab a preview before flipping the phone open.
What I’m not seeing here is any indication of a horizontal capability for video. Of course, this is a very quick glance over the features of the Kickstart — they didn’t even show the keyboard in the slides. But the more I think about it, the more I think that missing out on a horizontal video display is to drop the ball on this one. Without it, this sounds like just another flip phone.
The rumor is that this will ship with OS 5.0. We keep getting new OS rumors, without even having 4.5 yet!
