Try a CrackBerry for your BlackBerry thumb

Okay, so it’s not exactly the most original name. But for BlackBerry users, names might not matter much. The Spa at Halo [For Men] in Chicago is offering CrackBerry hand massage, and Glenn Jeffers of the Chicago Tribune had a go at it. We have to say, we’re a bit impressed.

I stopped by for the spa’s “Crackberry” treatment, a pay-by-the-minute chair massage designed to unknot my hands, gnarled to the point of soreness thanks to my new BlackBerry.

We’re sure most of us can relate to that kind of feeling. After all, like pitching a baseball, typing with the thumbs is not a natural motion. So, like pitchers relax their arms after starts, BlackBerry users should relax their thumbs after rigorous typing.

You’d think a CrackBerry massage would be limited to the hands. But no, it also includes the “back, shoulders, neck and arms.” After working those areas, the treatment turns to a gentle massaging of the hands and fingers.

The result?

When she finished, my arms and neck felt loose. The soreness in my hands was gone. Also, I couldn’t move for a few seconds, I was so relaxed.

Excuse us. We’re going to be away for the next 30 minutes or so. Gotta call the massage parlors in our area and find if any of them give similar hand massages.
