Cooper, I'd like to thank you for all your help. You were really helpful, I have one last question though: In case the jack is damaged, is it possible to replace it on the board?
Once again, thanks a lot for all your help. The post is great and so is the website. Keep up the good work.

@paulo The jack is standard size by definition but is actually slightly larger than standard from what I can tell.

Your issue may be that that particular pair of headphones just doesn't fit "right". Try a few pairs to see if the problem exists all around. If it does then it more than likely means you have damaged the jack in some fashion.

@Keyss Try a battery pull while the device is on to see if that brings it back to normal. Replace the battery after 1 minute.

@patrick this is a known bug and is OS based. You will have to update your OS to the most recent one available.

Look here for new OS files - you can use one from any carrier as long as you delete the vendor.xml file.

Here are instructions on how to upgrade:

This problem has come up recently for me, and has only become more and more frustrating. I have a blackberry tour (verizon), after every missed call my phone will not allow me to make any calls, every time I do it says "call in progress". I've tried turning off the phone but it doesnt help, the only way to make it stop is by having someone call and answering it. Also when I click the "end" or "power off" button it makes a beeping noise and takes me to my call log. Any solutions?

@Cooper no I'm not. The phone was given to me by my uncle who first used it and lost the headphones. I'm using the same pair of headphones I use on my PC (Samsung headphones) to listen to music which work perfectly. They just don't work so well on the Blackberry. If I pull them slightly out, I can hear from both of the sides of the headphones, with a weird sound and a small buzz on the background.
Do you think that the stereo jack is damaged?

@jit I would do a complete backup of your device - contacts data etc - then reload the os - if it is still unresponsive after that then it is absolutely a hardware issue and you will need a replacement.
