Remember back in April when there was a BlackBerry network crash? Everyone seemed in a panic, as they could no longer access the device that they relied so deeply on. Of course, the problem was solved, and Research In Motion supposedly made sure it was a one-time deal. If it happened with any regularity, their whole product and service would be compromised. Well, it kinda happened again, though it wasn’t nearly as universal.
Instead of affecting all users, this one only affected T-Mobile subscribers west of the MIssissippi. And it affected only e-mails, not calls. So yeah, not as big a problem, but a problem nonetheless for the thumb-tapping businesspeople of the West.
Our man Russell Shaw has the scoop:
Failure of a component in a router led to slightly less than two hours of lost e-mail service for BlackBerry customers on T-Mobile USA’s network west of the Mississippi River yesterday.
So it was on the part of RIM, who say that the outage lasted roughly an hour and 45 minutes. Upon hearing the news, we actually thought it was on the part of T-Mobile, after reading that T-Mobile users couldn’t refill minute last weekend. Oh well.
To quote Kevin Bacon: All is well!
