Most BlackBerry users have the device for business purposes. Many of them have company-issued devices, thus don’t have to worry about method of payment. But there is an increasing demand for BlackBerrys for both small businesses and personal use. Both of these entities don’t have the vast resources of big and medium businesses, yet are stuck with the same payment plan options. In the UK, though, things are becoming a bit different. Sure Mobile has launched a pay-as-you-go BlackBerry plan, seemingly targeting the two aforementioned demographics.
The question, as posed by Robb at RIMarkable: Would this fly in the U.S.? Would there be enough of a market for non-contract BlackBerrys?
We think that over time, there would. However, the nature of business is rather ephemeral. If the offering is launched to little hoopla, the plug might get pulled prematurely.
Robb thinks that it could work. We do, too. But it wouldn’t be any kind of overnight success.
If you feel strongly about this, go vote in Robb’s poll.

I think if u gave it a couple weeks, depending on when you started the offer, then it would be an exceptional idea an success. I, personally, am worried about gas prices rising and am looking to other places to cut prices. My phone bill currently stands at $96 a month when I use 100 minutes or less and my texting average is about 5 a day. My only reason for not finding a new phone plan is because of the $200 cancellation fee. Totaling almost $300 just to have to find another phone and plan to have to pay for within the month. I have always wanted to replace my planner and phone for a blackberry phone. If Blackberry decides to get a pay-as-you-go Blackberry, I would definatly be happy to pay my $200 cancellation fee and $96 bill one last time to switch over.
