I have two Blackberry 8900s, recent purchases. I am very happy with them so whenever I read a story like this I feel shudders run down my spine!

It's good that you found the cause of the problem as this will act as a warning to others. I have thought about downloading third-party themes but will not now do so.

Does Blackberry operate a software validation service? I think they ought to. Users could then use approved third-party software with confidence.

The only third-party application I have is DocumentsToGo Premium, which I think (hope) is safe (although there was an issue - solved with their help - when a free upgrade made the whole package disappear from my phone!).
